TA101 Syllabus Guide

Parent, Adult, Child (PAC)

States of mind and being that influence how we think, feel, and behave in any situation.

 

Transactions

Exchanges of communication between people, showing how ego states interact with each other.

 

Strokes

Units of recognition people give and receive to satisfy their need for connection.

 

Time Structuring

Ways people organise their time and relationships, from withdrawal through to intimacy.

 

Games

Repetitive, unconscious patterns of interaction that lead to familiar, often unhelpful outcomes.

 

Life Positions

The basic beliefs we hold about ourselves and others, our position in life, one up one down or equal.

 

Script

An unconscious life plan developed in childhood that influences our decisions, relationships, and expectations.

 

Drivers

Messages learned early in life that push us to behave in certain ways

 

Injunctions

Messages learned early in life that limit what we believe we can do or be.

 

Rackets

Familiar substitute feelings and behaviours that replace authentic emotions.

 

Discounting

Ignoring or minimising important information about ourselves, others, or a situation.

 

Autonomy

The ability to live with awareness, spontaneity, and genuine intimacy.
